Limited Edition Lioness Giclée Print | 'Fearless'
Limited Edition Lioness Giclée Print made from a drawing in colour pencil by Katie Hester.
Lionesses are known as fearless primary hunters which Katie wanted to capture in this hyper-realistic colour pencil piece.
This lioness from Kruger national park was on the hunt for a meal to provide for her family. Katie wanted to capture her movement and stillness in her coat as she stalks her prey. Katie believes that they are the foundations to a thriving pride from creating and rearing their young to providing the food source for everyone. The sun is only one of the many obstacles they must overcome daily to survive, which she also wanted to encapsulate in this piece. The intense light contrast gives the viewer an idea of how bright and hot the sun is beating down on her, almost bringing you closer to her.
The original artwork of this lioness was selected as a finalist for the David Shepherd wildlife artist of the year 2024 and displayed at the Mall Galleries in london in July 24.
